Meet The Author : Justin Kerr
SUN OF THE DESERT invites you to an afternoon with author Justin Kerr, whose hauntingly beautiful stories capture the mystery and wonder of the California High Desert. This special event will feature a live reading, Q+A moderated by Liz Lapp of Hi Desert Times, and a chance to meet the author himself.
Kerr, known for his cult-favorite novels including A Place to Bury Strangers, Dirt Don’t Hurt, Colma, and Death Bear, has written 23 books exploring themes of loss, redemption, and the desert’s uncanny magic. His work has been described as “low noir for the high desert”, stories that shimmer between realism and myth, much like the landscape that inspires them.
This event also celebrates the 70th edition of Kerr’s breakout novel, A Place to Bury Strangers, which has sold over 10,000 copies and continues to resonate with readers. A limited edition 70th cover will be available exclusively at the event.
