29 Palms Day Trip
Twentynine Palms isn’t polished, and that’s part of the pull. It’s dusty, spread out, a little rough around the edges - and full of the kind of spots that feel better when you find them for yourself. This itinerary keeps the day moving without over doing it: breakfast in hand, an easy trail, a few strong local stops, and one strange detour before the night sets in. It’s a day that feels like this side of the desert actually feels.
9:30 AM - 10:00 AM
Start at 29 Beer Co and grab a breakfast burrito or a breakfast sandwich to go. Easy, tasty and hits the spot - they also have great coffee drinks, and other grab and go items.
10:30 AM - 11:30 AM
Take the loop at Indian Cove Nature Trail, our easy 29 Palms-side hike pick. It’s short, quiet, and straight to the point - the kind of trail that gives you rock, sky, and enough space to reset.
12:00 PM - 1:30 PM
Spend some time at The Historic Plaza, the original center of commerce here in 29 Palms. Stop by SUN OF THE DESERT (our flagship store) and Mojave Moon Apothecary. Grab some lunch at local favorites Taqueria Las Palmas or The Cactus Bar.
1:30 PM - 2:30 PM
Make your way to Corner 62 and home to Escapade, White Label Vinyl, Hi Desert Times, Scorpion Lollipop, and Very Very. You might catch a musical performance or food pop up, there’s always something fun going on.
3:00 PM - 4:00 PM
Then step sideways for a bit at Hi Orbit. It starts in a retro arcade and opens up into a cinematic, puzzle-driven desert fever dream. Not your standard stop, which is exactly why it belongs here.
4:30 PM - 6:00 PM
Wrap things up at Kitchen in the Desert for an early dinner, drinks, or both. A spicy mezcal margarita is our recommendation. If you are not ready to call it yet, wander through the shops at Tin Town and stretch out the afternoon a little longer.
29 Palms is the perfect desert adventure, with just the right mix of open space, local character, and unexpected stops. It’s the kind of place that rewards you for slowing down and letting the day unfold. Let it be a little dusty and a little strange, because that’s all part of the charm. The best moments out here are usually the unplanned ones.
